Terms of Service
Effective date: May 5, 2026 — Last updated: May 5, 2026
These Terms ("Terms") govern your use of the Prayer Shield mobile application, companion websites we operate, and related services (the "Service") from Pinnacle River LLC.
Using the Service means you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, stop using Prayer Shield.
1. Eligibility
You may only use the Service if you may enter a binding agreement under applicable law. If you use Prayer Shield on behalf of an entity, you represent that you may bind it.
2. The Service
Prayer Shield offers faith-habit and spiritual-discipline tools (shields, communal and personal prayer flows, scripture, streaks, reminders, streak sync, onboarding, optional widgets). Features change over time without guarantee any specific tool remains forever available.
Prayer Circles and friends. Prayer Shield may allow you to join or lead Circles, invite or accept friends where supported, send structured encouragement or support-category requests, react with emoji, receive notifications you configure, and see activity that the product is intentionally designed to show Circle members or linked friends. Administrators or members may hold permissions that shape membership or metadata (names, icons, discoverability) permitted in-app.
Prayer Wall and shared prayer requests. You may post prayer requests or similar content for audiences beyond yourself: for example friend-linked walls, broader in-app feeds, or Prayer Wall pages on our websites. Copies can leave our control when others observe, archive, screenshot, index, or reshare them despite later removal inside Prayer Shield.
"Anonymous" display. Some surfaces may hide your nickname from certain viewers while retaining an internal association to your account so you can remove postings, manage blocking, comply with law, operate moderation, finish cache or deletion jobs, and uphold the Privacy Policy timelines. This masking is not cryptographic unlinkability from us, HIPAA treatment by default absent a separate business associate agreement you negotiate, or sacramental confession seal.
Blocking. Blocking enforces limitations defined in the codebase (for example hiding specific interactions, wall rows, emoji exchanges, or inbox items). It works forward from activation; it generally cannot erase lawful prior logs within published retention horizons, aggregates already pseudonymised, ephemeral CDN residuals, nor human recipients’ legitimate memories of lawful prior renders.
We may modify, limit, discontinue, geographically constrain for compliance purposes, or refactor Prayer Shield (including Circles, Prayer Wall behavior, shields, onboarding, subscriptions, analytics, moderation policies, scripture presentation, integrations, AI-assisted modules, or experiment flags). Where a change is materially adverse, we strive to provide reasonable advance notice when commercially practicable. We do not guarantee that any particular feature, SKU bundle, or integration will remain indefinitely.
3. Artificial intelligence processing
Pinnacle River also publishes FocusGate. Its terms at focusgate-app.com/focusgate/terms state that FocusGate does not use artificial intelligence in the manner described there. Prayer Shield differs: optional experiences may send prompts, personalization text, or journaling-style inputs you submit, together with the limited technical metadata listed in our Privacy Policy (for example locale identifiers, feature selectors, safety or truncation summaries), to commercial model hosts such as OpenAI or substitutes we use for redundancy, moderation posture, locality, latency, deprecation of older models, or future modalities we announce with reasonable notice.
AI completions are statistical software output. They are not licensed therapy, pastoral counsel under canonical seal, medical advice, suicide or crisis hotline services, legal advice, fiduciary investment advice, or binding divine revelation. They may be inaccurate, offensive, hallucinated, doctrinally awkward, or reflect training bias. Do not follow instructions that encourage self-harm, violence, illegal conduct, or secrecy from trusted caregivers. Seek local emergency services plus real-world help immediately if you are in danger.
Using AI-assisted features means you consent to the Privacy Policy descriptions of inference vendors, subprocessors, transfers, and retention. Adults supervising minors decide whether AI-assisted flows are suitable; manage Apple Family Sharing or Google Family Link plus device passcodes accordingly. Report harmful or discriminatory completions to support@pinnacleriverllc.com with reasonable detail and optional redacted screenshots.
4. License; not a sale
Subject to compliance with these Terms, we grant a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use Prayer Shield consistent with marketplace rules.
Prayer Shield is licensed, not sold. All rights not expressly granted remain reserved. App Store copies may also be subject to Apple's Standard EULA: Apple Standard EULA.
5. Accounts and authentication
Certain features require credentials. You safeguard passwords or biometric gates you enable and accept responsibility for sessions tied to your account until you notify us about compromise where possible.
We rely on Supabase (and linked cloud infrastructure) for authentication, identity, authorization, relational storage backing Circles and Prayer Wall rows, realtime channels, object storage for avatars, edge functions enforcing rules, webhooks reconciling entitlements, and comparable services required to deliver Prayer Shield.
6. Subscriptions, billing, and trials
Paid functionality may include subscriptions, trials, or in-app purchases processed through Apple or Google. We use Adapty to validate receipts, manage entitlements, reconcile subscription state, and support internal operational analytics described in the Privacy Policy.
Unless the purchase screen states otherwise:
- subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your Apple or Google account settings;
- marketplaces charge applicable taxes and handle pricing localization;
- cancellations generally take effect at the end of the current paid period unless the store says otherwise;
- refunds follow marketplace policies. We cannot override Apple or Google refund desks.
See Google's subscription documentation for additional platform rules: Android Developers — subscriptions.
7. Analytics and performance monitoring
We use PostHog for product analytics, crash diagnostics, performance metrics, funnel measurement, and experimentation telemetry so we can improve reliability and understand adoption of Circles, Prayer Wall surfaces, AI modules, paywall funnels, shield timing, streak recovery flows, localization rollouts, notification channels, widget engagement, and other features. We do not sell personal information for independent ad-tech marketing; we aim to minimize directly identifiable event payloads consistent with running the Service.
8. Privacy
The Privacy Policy controls how we collect, use, store, and delete personal data, including details on Circles, friends lists, Prayer Wall postings, blocking, AI vendors, Adapty, Supabase, PostHog, account deletion, international transfers, and regional rights. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break law or infringe others' rights when posting lyrics, graphics, sermon clips, music synchronizations, or other media;
- harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate clergy, exploit vulnerable users, coordinate hate campaigns, post sexual content involving minors, or weaponize prayer requests to stalk someone;
- spam the Prayer Wall, Circles, or support channels with scams, malware, phishing, unauthorized fundraising, multi-level marketing, crypto pump schemes, or unrelated commercial spam;
- scrape, bulk export, or resell Prayer Wall feeds without written permission, or attempt timing attacks to deanonymize posters using external datasets merged adversarially;
- probe, bypass, or overload security, rate limits, shield timers, entitlement checks, AI guardrails, Supabase row-level security, or moderation queues;
- reverse engineer except where law forbids such a restriction, or jailbreak models to elicit illegal or unsafe instructions you later broadcast;
- misrepresent affiliation with churches, nonprofits, or trademark holders.
We may remove content, suspend accounts, revoke Circle admin powers after review, throttle AI usage, reset abusive streak metrics when policy allows, or cooperate with law enforcement when legally required and consistent with the Privacy Policy.
10. Intellectual property
Prayer Shield branding, software, visual design, default copy we author, compiled datasets we create, marketing site layouts, share-card templates, widget graphics, notification copy, onboarding artwork, and related works remain owned by Pinnacle River or licensors. Except for the limited license above, no rights transfer to you. Do not use our trademarks without written permission except for truthful references identifying the app you installed.
11. Your content license to us
You retain rights to User Content you create. By submitting User Content through Circles, the Prayer Wall, messages, uploads, reactions, prompts you send into AI-assisted features, notification text you enter, or other parts of the Service, you grant Pinnacle River a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense to host and infrastructure providers as needed) to host, store, reproduce, encrypt, format, transmit, moderate, display within the visibility settings you select, translate or adapt presentation where the product does so, create non-identifying aggregates, and use it as the Privacy Policy describes for legal compliance, safety, and operating the Service. This license lasts until your content is deleted or anonymized as set out in the Privacy Policy, subject to reasonable backup and legal-hold practices described there.
12. Feedback
Ideas, suggestions, or other voluntary feedback you give us may be implemented without owing you royalties, credits, confidentiality, or other compensation unless we expressly agree otherwise in signed writing for a specific arrangement.
13. Third-party services
The Service may link to or rely on payment processors (Apple or Google storefronts), cloud infrastructure used with Supabase, analytics (PostHog), subscription management (Adapty), scripture or devotional sources we do not operate, OAuth or sign-in helpers, maps or browsers that open outside the app, and other independent services. Those parties have their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control; your use is at your discretion and risk.
14. Availability
We aim for reliable uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, particular response times, error-free builds, timezone accuracy of streak badges, parity between iOS and Android feature rollouts every week, continuity of experiments, or preservation of niche beta flags during refactors. Maintenance, outages, platform policy changes, payment holds, moderation backlogs, App Review delays, DNS issues, regional blocks, quota exhaustion, dependency deprecations, or force majeure events may impair the Service temporarily or longer.
15. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Prayer Shield is a faith-habit and community tool, not a substitute for licensed medical, mental health, pastoral care under specific professional standards you might expect in your tradition, legal counsel, or emergency services. AI output is not guaranteed accurate or appropriate. Community content does not reflect our endorsement. You are responsible for how you interpret spiritual content, manage fasting or sleep if you pair shields with health choices, and seek local help if you are in crisis.
16. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER PINNACLE RIVER NOR ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, OR SUPPLIERS WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE OR USER CONTENT ACCESSED THROUGH IT.
OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR PAID FEATURES OF THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (USD $50), IF YOU PAID NOTHING DURING THAT PERIOD. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
17. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Pinnacle River and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- your User Content or your use of the Service;
- your violation of these Terms or applicable law;
- your interactions with other users, including disputes in Circles or about Prayer Wall posts;
- your misuse of AI features or outputs you republish elsewhere.
18. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, stress infrastructure abusively, or if we wind down the product with reasonable notice when practicable. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including licenses to the extent needed to wind down lawfully, disclaimers, limitations, indemnity, governing law, and dispute-related terms) survive termination. Account deletion details appear in the Privacy Policy.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and, when changes are material, provide additional notice as required by law or reasonable in context (for example an in-app alert, email where we have your address, or website banner). Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms unless applicable law requires a different consent mechanism.
20. Governing law; venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to mandatory consumer protections where you live that cannot be waived, you agree that the state and federal courts located in Pulaski County, Arkansas have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
21. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to reflect the parties' intent consistent with law.
22. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms we present for a specific paid feature or beta where you explicitly accept them, constitute the entire agreement between you and Pinnacle River regarding the Service and supersede prior oral or written understandings on the same subject, except that nothing here limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.
